Saturn fine ink study

One Saturn-like ringed planet in three-quarter view, spherical globe and coherent tilted elliptical ring passing behind and in front. Practice clear contours and a few local shadows in fine ink.

A way into the drawing

1. Establish the main shapes

   Draw the globe and full ring ellipse lightly.

2. Connect the structure

   Hide the far ring behind the globe and retain the near arc.

3. Develop the drawing

   Refine the clear outer contour, add only the most useful interior details and place a few small local shadows. Leave most of the paper open.
