Saturn fine ink study

One Saturn-like ringed planet in three-quarter view, spherical globe and coherent tilted elliptical ring passing behind and in front. Practice form, overlap and selective shading in fine ink.

A way into the drawing

1. Establish the main shapes

   Draw the globe and full ring ellipse lightly.

2. Connect the structure

   Hide the far ring behind the globe and retain the near arc.

3. Develop the drawing

   Use selective interior marks and local shadow groups to explain the overlaps. Keep the lighter planes open rather than shading every surface.
