A way into the drawing

  1. Shape the hull

Draw a wide boat-shaped hull with a gently curved base and two angled ends.

  2. Raise the sails

Place a straight mast above the hull. Add one broad triangular sail and a smaller sail on the other side.

  3. Let it float

Add a few loose wavy lines below the boat, then a small circle for the sun and short rays around it.

A small thing to tryDraw the water lines loosely. Their soft movement is a nice contrast to the straight sail edges.
