A cottage with a turret

A tiny storybook cottage with a turret and climbing ivy. Enjoy the small details once the main building feels solid.

A way into the drawing

1. Build the simple volumes

   Sketch the cottage as a box and the turret as a cylinder. Set the roof shapes above them.

2. Place doors and windows

   Draw an arched doorway and a few uneven windows. Keep their sides aligned with the walls.

3. Add stone and ivy

   Suggest a few masonry joints and clusters of leaves. Deepen the shadows under the roof edges.

A small thing to tryDraw only some of the stones. Letting parts of the wall stay blank keeps the cottage from looking too busy.
