Practice a deer with clear forms and selected overlaps. Build a slender neck and small muzzle. Place the large ears at slightly different angles. Draw a few spaced spots and a short tail. Use small graphite accents under the chin and where the legs fold.

A way into the drawing

1. Lay out the resting body

   Draw a long rounded body and mark the folded leg shapes beneath it. Leave space above for the neck and head.

2. Lift the head and ears
