A way into the drawing

  1. Make the hull

Draw a short horizontal top edge. Curve both ends down toward where the water will sit.

  2. Raise the mast and sail

Add a straight mast near the middle. Draw one large triangle beside it for the sail.

  3. Place it on the water

Join the lower edges with a low, gently wavy water line. Leave the boat and sail unshaded.

A small thing to tryUse the mast as one edge of the sail. Fewer lines keep the little boat clear.
