A panda sitting with its paws forward

Build a seated panda from a rounded head and body, then overlap the forepaws and folded feet. Simple dark patches identify the animal while the belly stays open.

A way into the drawing

  1. Round the head and body

Place a broad head above a pear-shaped body. Mark the face center lightly so the eyes sit at a similar height.

  2. Overlap the paws

Bring the two forepaws forward and tuck the rear feet beside them. Hide the contours where one limb passes behind another.

  3. Place the dark patches

Add the dark ears and eye patches, then small shoulder accents. Leave the broad limbs, face, and belly open, with just a little gray at the folded legs.

A small thing to tryKeep the eye patches separate from the nose so the small face stays readable.
