A resting walrus with two curved tusks

Start a resting walrus with a broad body and full muzzle, then add the two tusks and simple flippers. Sparse whiskers and local shadows keep it approachable.

A way into the drawing

  1. Build the rounded body

Draw a broad resting body and a round head at its front. Add two full muzzle shapes beneath the small nose.

  2. Place the tusks and flippers

Curve two long tusks down from the muzzle. Add broad front flippers and a small paired rear-flipper shape beside the body.

  3. Limit the facial marks

Add small eyes and a few long whiskers. Use pale graphite around the tusk roots and flipper overlaps instead of shading the whole body.

A small thing to tryDraw both tusks lightly before darkening either one so their length and spacing feel balanced.
