Fairy lantern marker study

One small fantasy lantern shaped like an acorn, a cup-shaped base, domed cap, arched handle and broad translucent chamber. Practice clear contours and a few local shadows in black and gray marker.

A way into the drawing

1. Establish the main shapes

   Stack the cup base, chamber and domed cap.

2. Connect the structure

   Join the handle and separate the chamber from its frame.

3. Develop the drawing

   Refine the clear outer contour, add only the most useful interior details and place a few small local shadows. Leave most of the paper open.
