A jellyfish drifting down

Combine a rounded bell with flowing tentacles. Curved ribs and varied line weight add interest without turning the drawing into a tangle.

A way into the drawing

1. Round the bell

   Draw a broad dome and close its bottom with a gently scalloped rim. Add a few curved ribs following the bell surface.

2. Let the tentacles flow

   Pull several long curves down from the bell. Give two of them loose ribbon edges and leave space between neighboring tentacles.

3. Give a little weight

   Thicken selected edges of the bell and one side of a few tentacles. Keep most of the drawing open and white.

A small thing to tryMove your whole hand for each long curve. If the tentacles crowd together, leave one out rather than adding more detail.
