A way into the drawing

Start with a rounded body
Draw a tall oval, then flatten its lower edge slightly where it meets the branch.
Shape the face
Place a soft heart shape inside the upper body and two round eyes on either side of a small beak.
Fold the wings
Add curved wings along the sides, a few feather marks, and two small feet on the branch.
