Spellbook marker study

One closed fantasy spellbook in three-quarter view, thick covers, visible page block, a clasp and one ribbon bookmark; no lettering or symbols. Practice clear contours and a few local shadows in black and gray marker.

A way into the drawing

1. Establish the main shapes

   Construct the closed book as a shallow box.

2. Connect the structure

   Separate the covers, page block, clasp and ribbon.

3. Develop the drawing

   Refine the clear outer contour, add only the most useful interior details and place a few small local shadows. Leave most of the paper open.
