An oval shell and four little flippers make a friendly sea turtle. Enjoy the small geometric pattern on its back.

A way into the drawing

  1. Draw an oval shell

Make a slightly tapered oval and give it a second line just inside the edge.

  2. Add the swimming shapes

Attach a small rounded head, two broad front flippers, and two shorter back flippers.

  3. Pattern the shell

Draw a few large plates down the center, then connect smaller shapes around them.

A small thing to tryDraw the shell pattern lightly first. A few large plates will read better than lots of tiny shapes.
