A garlic bulb with a bent papery stalk

Practice a garlic bulb with clear forms and selected overlaps. Gather the clove curves toward a short bent stalk. Add one loose peel flap at the side. Use a little graphite in selected seams and beneath the peel flap. Add only a few short root marks.

A way into the drawing

1. Round the lobed bulb

   Draw a squat rounded outline and separate a few broad clove shapes with long curves.

2. Bend the papery stalk

   Gather the clove curves toward a short bent stalk. Add one loose peel flap at the side.

3. Accent the seams

   Use a little graphite in selected seams and beneath the peel flap. Add only a few short root marks.
