A kite with a loose ribbon tail

Use a slightly tilted kite to practice straight edges, crossing supports, and flowing curves. Two simple ribbon bows give the tail a little movement.

A way into the drawing

  1. Tilt the diamond

Draw a light centerline at an angle, with the lower section longer than the upper. Join the four outer points into a slightly uneven diamond.

  2. Cross the supports

Draw the two supports inside the kite and tie them with a tiny crossing mark. Add a loose flying string near their junction.

  3. Curve the ribbon tail

Run a flowing tail from the bottom point and add two simple bows. Use small gray accents at the folds while leaving the kite panels open.

A small thing to tryGive the tail one clear flowing curve before drawing the bows. Their folds should follow that movement.
