A mitten with a folded cuff

Practice a mitten with clear forms and selected overlaps. Add one bent thumb at the side with a clear connecting crease. Wrap a broad folded cuff around the wrist. Use a couple of soft folds and small graphite at the overlaps.

A way into the drawing

1. Round the finger pouch

   Draw a broad soft pouch that narrows toward the wrist. Keep the fingertip curve smooth.

2. Attach the thumb

   Add one bent thumb at the side with a clear connecting crease.

3. Fold the cuff

   Wrap a broad folded cuff around the wrist. Use a couple of soft folds and small graphite at the overlaps.

A small thing to tryKeep the thumb shorter than the main pouch so the mitten’s proportions feel believable.
