A pineapple with broad crown leaves

Practice a pineapple with clear forms and selected overlaps. Build a small group of broad pointed leaves from one shared top. Show which leaves pass behind the others. Add selected broad V-shaped marks and a little graphite at the leaf roots. Leave most of the fruit surface open.

A way into the drawing

  1. Round the fruit body

Draw a gently tapered oval with a stable base. Leave room above it for the crown.

  2. Overlap the crown leaves

Build a small group of broad pointed leaves from one shared top. Show which leaves pass behind the others.

  3. Suggest a few facets

Add selected broad V-shaped marks and a little graphite at the leaf roots. Leave most of the fruit surface open.

A small thing to tryKeep the crown leaves broad; many thin spikes make the subject harder to copy.
