One sneaker with loosely crossed laces

Start with a low shoe silhouette, then add a tongue, simple sole, and a few crossed laces. Selected seam lines explain the shape without dense stitching.

A way into the drawing

  1. Set the low shoe silhouette

Draw the rounded toe, rising ankle opening, and low heel. Connect them with a gently curved sole line.

  2. Add the tongue and laces

Place the tongue inside the opening, then draw a few broad crossed lace pairs. Keep the eyelets simple.

  3. Choose the seams and shadows

Add a toe-cap seam and heel seam. Use a little gray inside the collar and under the sole, leaving the main panels open.

A small thing to tryFinish the shoe’s overall silhouette before adding laces; small details cannot repair an awkward toe or heel.
