A snowdrop hanging from its stem

Draw a snowdrop with a bending stem, a small hanging bloom, and two long leaves. Simple petal overlaps and narrow shadows keep the flower delicate.

A way into the drawing

  1. Bend the stem

Draw a slender stem curving down at its top. Place a small oval where the bloom will hang.

  2. Overlap the hanging petals

Draw three long outer petals around the shorter inner bell. Let one edge hide part of the petal behind it.

  3. Add the long leaves

Sweep two narrow leaves up from the base and add simple centerlines. Use pale pencil only at the petal bases and leaf overlap.

A small thing to tryKeep the bloom hanging from the bend instead of pointing straight outward from the stem.
