A study of an onion with a peeling papery flap, dried neck, fine roots and curved skin lines on pale textured paper. Block in the bulb and tapered neck on a tilted axis.

A way into the drawing

1. Establish the main forms

   Block in the bulb and tapered neck on a tilted axis.

2. Build the structure

   Wrap the loose skin flap around one side and attach a small root cluster below.

3. Develop selected details

   Follow the bulb with selected curved lines and shade beneath the peeling flap.
