A way into the drawing

  1. Space the petals

    Draw the round center and place the top, bottom, and side petals first. Fill the gaps with longer tapered petals.

  2. Build stem and leaves

    Add a gently curved stem and two broad leaves. Use one central vein to show the direction of each leaf.

  3. Add selective detail

    Place a few dots in the center and short fold lines inside some petals. Keep plenty of white paper between the marks.

A small thing to tryVary the petal widths slightly. Spacing them evenly enough to read matters more than making identical shapes.
